Sending Money

Inmates in the Birmingham Work Release will need money to purchase extra items from the facilities commissary. These items typically include extra food such as snacks and beverages, clothing, entertainment items, and hygiene products.

Friends and family members of the offender can send money through JPay. JPay is a service that the Birmingham Work Release utilizes that allows you to easily put money on the offender's account. You should know that there will be a fee associated with this service.

Phone calls

To receive calls from an offender in the Birmingham Work Release, you will need to register your mobile phone number and your landline phone number with Securus Technologies using the provided links.

Offenders will be able to call you between the hours of 7 am to 10 pm. Keep in mind this time can change at a moment’s notice. Typically, offenders will not be permitted to use the phones during their counts or when the facility is under lockdown.


At the Birmingham Work Release, offenders will be permitted to have visitors only on Saturdays and Sundays. Visitors are welcome to stop by for a visit between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm.

All visits will be for in two-hour duration depending on the classification the inmate has and whether the visit will be no-contact or contact visit.

Visitors will only be permitted to bring in a Ziploc bag with $20 in quarter, which they can use at the vending machine located in the visitation room.
