Want to stay in touch with an inmate? The most cost-effective way to do so is to write them letters.

All outgoing and incoming mail will be thoroughly checked by a staff member at the Fairbanks Youth Facility prior to being hand-delivered to the inmate it is addressed to.

The staff members will be looking to ensure there is no contraband coming in or going out of the facility. Every piece of mail will also be read as well to ensure there is no talk of escape, incriminating evidence in your criminal case, or anything else of that nature.

You should refrain from using the following in your letters as well:

  • Usage of crayons

  • Drawings

  • Sexual Content

  • Staples

  • Stickers

  • Glitter

  • Lipstick

  • Perfume/Cologne

Sending Money

Inmates in the Fairbanks Youth Facility will need funds to purchase items from the commissary. The commissary is where inmates can purchase items such as the following:

  • Personal Hygiene

  • Sneakers

  • Clothing

  • Beverages

  • Snacks

  • Entertainment Items

You can come down to the Fairbanks Youth Facility and hand in a money order with the inmate’s full name, date of birth, and their identification number on it. The staff member can then deposit the funds into the inmate’s account, so the inmate can purchase what he or she needs from the commissary.

Phone calls

At the Fairbanks Youth Facility, you will have the chance to have the inmate call you. The inmate will only have the option to call collect. If you only have a cell phone, you will not be able to get these phone calls from the inmate.

Calling collect does not allow you to call cell phones. Inmates will, however, be allowed to get through people who still have a landline phone.

You, the receiver of the phone call will be responsible for any and all charges that are associated with the collect call. The Fairbanks Youth Facility takes no responsibility in any charges that may occur.
