The Amador County Sheriff’s Department was first established around the late 1700s and was in the same location until they built the new sheriff’s department and included the Amador County Jail.
The Amador County Jail was in constant operation from the time it was built in 1845 to 1971. The Amador County Jail closed its doors until the mid-1980s.
