You can also send inmates books, newspapers, and magazines. All books must be paperback and new. These items are also required to be sent directly from the publisher or a bookstore.

If you would like to send a package to an inmate, you will need to get prior approval from the staff at the Sumter County Detention Center.

You cannot come to the Sumter County Detention Center and hand them a money order anymore. If you are in jail, you can deposit money in the kiosk that is in the lobby.

The Sumter County Detention Center limits inmates phone conversation to 15-minutes max.

The Sumter County Detention Center contracts with Securus Technology for their phone needs. However, inmates will still have the option to use collect calls as well.

For you to visit an inmate in the Sumter County Detention Center, you will need to schedule yourself an appointment. The Sumter County Detention Center allows you to schedule your appointment online. You will need to make your appointment at least one day prior to visiting.
