Locating an inmate in the Hancock County Sheriff is no easy feat. The agency responsible for keeping records of all inmates in the Hancock County Sheriff is the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.

However, unlike other sheriff’s departments, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department does not have their inmate roster available on the web.

Inmates love receiving letters from their family and friends. You are permitted to send an inmate in the Hancock County Sheriff a letter.

You should keep in mind that all letters will be thoroughly searched prior to being given to the inmate.

Your letter should never contain any of the following:

  • Usage of Crayons

  • Added stamps, paper, or envelopes

  • Stickers

  • Drawings

  • Perfume or Cologne

  • Staples

  • Glitter

You should also put your return address on every piece of mail that you send to an inmate in the Hancock County Sheriff.

Sending Money

Inmates in the Hancock County Sheriff will need funds to purchase items from the commissary. In order to deliver funds to an inmate, you can bring a money order directly down to the Hancock County Sheriff lobby.

You will need to ensure on the money order you have the inmates full name on it as well.

The staff member will collect the money order from you and the funds will be deposited into the inmates account within one to three days.

If you do not live close to the Hancock County Sheriff, you can always send the money order in the mail.

Phone calls

If you are having withdrawals from not talking to an inmate, you will continue the waiting game. Inmates cannot receive calls and/or messages from their loved ones back home.

You will be required to wait for the inmate to contact you. Inmates will have use of the phone daily if they display good behavior and the facility is not in lockdown.

All calls coming from the Hancock County Sheriff will be collect calls. To ensure you will receive these collect calls, you will need to have a landline.

Visitation

Visitation at the Hancock County Sheriff is held Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am to 6 pm.

All visits will be no-contact visits. You and your visitor party will not be permitted to touch the inmates. The inmate will be on the opposite side of a glass partition.

To visit an inmate, you will need to present your government-issued identification card such as a driver’s license. Juveniles under the age of 16 will always be required to be accompanied by an adult. They will not be permitted to visit an inmate alone.
