The Department of Corrections in Kansas is a major division in the state government. Of course, it should be a major division considering that it handles hundreds of thousands of people every year.
The Department of Corrections will handle people who are put on probation, people who are sent to jail, and people who paroled out of jail and back into the community.
Just like any other major division, the corrections division is a huge task for this department. But that does not scare this department one bit. This department has many people that work with them. This department worlds together as a team. One big team that all works towards one goal in mind. That goal is to rehabilitate the detainees and make them into proper working members of society upon release.
You should note that not all offenders that they have custody of are being held within the state. There are about 600 of these offenders who are sitting in a facility located in Arizona. However, the DOC in Kansas is looking at the possibility of transferring out more offenders to other states as well.
