The Essex Transitional Program is a minimum and medium-security state facility. The inmates housed in the Essex Transitional Program will typically have the option to be on the work-release program. The work-release program is where the offender can work outside of the facility in the community but report back to the facility when their workday is over.

All incoming and outgoing mail from the Essex Transitional Program will be checked for contraband. All incoming mail will be required to have the return address listed on the envelope. You should address the envelope to the inmate and have their DC number on it as well to ensure it gets to the offender.

The Essex Transitional Program has three different ways to send money to an inmate.

Phone calls

The Essex Transitional Program has set hours for the offenders to utilize the phone. During these hours, offenders will be permitted to make phone calls home.

All calls inmates will make will be recorded and monitored by prison staff.

Visitation

Visiting at the Essex Transitional Program will be held between the hours of 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

It is recommended to arrive at the Essex Transitional Program about a half-hour early to be ready when visitation opens.
