The Central Prison is situated in Wake County, North Carolina. The Central Prison can house up to 1000 offenders.
The Central Prison is a minimum and medium-security state facility. The inmates housed in the Central Prison will typically have the option to be on the work-release program. The work-release program is where the offender can work outside of the facility in the community but report back to the facility when their workday is over.
For an offender to qualify for the above work release program, they will need to have met certain standards.
If an offender did not meet those standards, they could have a chance to get a job within the Central Prison facility as well. These jobs inside the Central Prison can be anything from working with horses, maintenance, clothing/garment manufacturing, and working in a warehouse.

How to Find Someone in Central Prison
Searching for an offender can sometimes be one of the hardest tasks, you will ever have to complete. Since the Central Prison is a state-operated facility, the task is not so daunting.
The North Carolina Department of Corrections will be the agency that operates the Central Prison, which means, they will be the agency that is responsible for having a database of all inmates they have in custody.
You can find the database located on the North Carolina Department of Corrections website. When searching the database, please keep in mind that there will be inmates from other state-owned facilities within the state of North Carolina as well.

All incoming and outgoing mail from the Central Prison will be checked for contraband. All incoming mail will be required to have the return address listed on the envelope. You should address the envelope to the inmate and have their DC number on it as well to ensure it gets to the offender.
Sending Money
The Central Prison has three different ways to send money to an inmate.
The first way to send money is via the telephone. You will need to call 919-733-0800. You will need to use a credit card to use this method. Also, please note that this method also will incur a processing fee.

Phone calls
The Central Prison has set hours for the offenders to utilize the phone. During these hours, offenders will be permitted to make phone calls home.
All calls inmates will make will be recorded and monitored by prison staff.
Visitation
Visiting at the Central Prison will be held between the hours of 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
It is recommended to arrive at the Central Prison about a half-hour early to be ready when visitation opens.
You will need to get in contact with the Central Prison as the offenders will alternate weekends.
