The Promise Place is situated in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. .

The Promise Place is a minimum and medium-security state facility. The inmates housed in the Promise Place will typically have the option to be on the work-release program. The work-release program is where the offender can work outside of the facility in the community but report back to the facility when their workday is over.

For an offender to qualify for the above work release program, they will need to have met certain standards.

If an offender did not meet those standards, they could have a chance to get a job within the Promise Place facility as well. These jobs inside the Promise Place can be anything from working with horses, maintenance, clothing/garment manufacturing, and working in a warehouse.

Searching for an offender can sometimes be one of the hardest tasks, you will ever have to complete. Since the Promise Place is a state-operated facility, the task is not so daunting.

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections will be the agency that operates the Promise Place, which means, they will be the agency that is responsible for having a database of all inmates they have in custody.

You can find the database located on the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections website. When searching the database, please keep in mind that there will be inmates from other state-owned facilities within the state of Pennsylvania as well.

All incoming and outgoing mail from the Promise Place will be checked for contraband. All incoming mail will be required to have the return address listed on the envelope. You should address the envelope to the inmate and have their DC number on it as well to ensure it gets to the offender.

Sending Money

The Promise Place has three different ways to send money to an inmate.

The first way to send money is via the telephone. You will need to call 717-985-6440. You will need to use a credit card to use this method. Also, please note that this method also will incur a processing fee.

Phone calls

The Promise Place has set hours for the offenders to utilize the phone. During these hours, offenders will be permitted to make phone calls home.

All calls inmates will make will be recorded and monitored by prison staff.


Visiting at the Promise Place will be held between the hours of 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

It is recommended to arrive at the Promise Place about a half-hour early to be ready when visitation opens.

You will need to get in contact with the Promise Place as the offenders will alternate weekends.
