The FCI La Tuna is a medium-security federal institution.

Along with the main campus at the FCI La Tuna there is a minimum-security prison camp.

The FCI La Tuna opened its doors back in 2007. You may not know that FCI La Tuna was one of three facilities that are in the El paso.

Overall the FCI La Tuna is home to a total of 1097 inmates. The main campus typically will house around 877 inmates while the prison camp will house around 109 inmates.

Searching for an inmate in the FCI La Tuna is easier than ever now. You know longer must spend the day on the phone trying to get through and talk to a correctional officer.

Now you can go to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website and just search for the inmate by their BOP number or their name.

Sending mail is going to be an easy task. It is not as daunting as it may seem. Nearly everything is okay to send, if it follows the guidelines. The guidelines are simple. If you wouldn’t want someone else to open and read the mail because of its contents, then it probably should not be sent.

Please understand that you can send care packages, but you will need to have prior approval from the FCI La Tuna.

Sending Money

Even though these inmates may or may not have jobs, they will still need some more money to use to purchase the following items:

  • Beverages

  • Snacks

  • Phone Account

  • Entertainment Items

  • Personal Hygiene Products

When sending money, you will want to either send a money order, use Western Union, or you can use MoneyGram.

Phone calls

Phone conversations is just another way you can keep in contact with inmates in the FCI La Tuna.

You will have the chance to have the inmates call you. Inmates will only be allowed to call you. You will not be allowed to call the inmate.

Visitation

The main campus and the minimum-security camp have the same visitation schedule.

The current visitation schedule is on Saturdays and Sunday between the hours of 8 am to 3 pm.

You will be permitted to visit only during those hours and those times with inmates in FCI La Tuna
